The lamps in the house were a haphazard collection of 80s wall lamps, using different materials and bulbs. They were all kind of ugly. So I threw them out and designed a wall lamp using an aluminum sheet, cut and bent to hold very bright halogen R7S 118mm bulbs. Sendcutsend.com offers pretty fast water jet cutting and bending, and I stayed within their capability envelope. This becomes cost comparable to off-the-shelf retail lamps once you reach about 10 units.
